GM Legacy

Obituaries

In the weeks and months after Gerry's death so many different publications wrote their own tributes.  It was truly remarkable to see the wonderful tributes and was a great source of comfort to us and his many friends and fans.

It become clear to us how popular Gerry was, not just with his old fans but with a new, younger generation that had been wowed by his "sideways" driving,  particularly at circuits such as Goodwood.

For copyright reasons we can't reproduce the obituaries. However, the tributes were led by  Motorsport News who even held their front page with a photograph of Gerry in the middle.  Autosport's Marcus Pye even called for Luffield to be renamed Marshalls.

Literally everyone covered the tragic news of Gerry's passing - from  Broadsheets to Gerry's local newspaper and the more likely motoring publications; Motorsport, Classic and Sportscar, Octane, Retro Cars, Track and Race Car, Pit and Paddock etc etc.

It was a very sad time for his family, but also one of immense pride.  We are eternally grateful for all the tributes that have been written and continue to be written about Gerry and would like to thank the authors and editors.

We are certain that Gerry will continue to be written about for a long time to come; indeed most recently he was in the Financial Times to having the entire front cover of Motorsport dedicated to him under the heading "Brains, Brawn and Balls".
