1980's

When the Vauxhall days ended in early 1978 Gerry moved more into Production Saloons and Touring Cars driving Ford Capris and Triumph Dolomites.

The Capris continued into the early 1980s, before moving on to Opel Monzas (back into the GM fold), Escort RS Turbos, Fiat Strada Abarths, Ford Sierra Cosworth, Colt Starion, Saab 900 Turbos, Aston Martin DB4 and DBR4, Austin Healey 3000, various MGBs and MGCs.

He also renewed his relationship with TVR, firstly racing the works TVR 420 SEAC, several historic Griffiths and then the TVR Tuscan championship. He even managed to find time to win at Dubai in a Lola T70 in 1981, to race in the Ford P100 pickup truck championship and race in the British Truck Grand Prix at Brands Hatch. It was also in the ‘80s that he bought Baby Bertha and had a couple of outings, before deciding to sell her.
